Back to school already? Oh wait its Hogwarts. Half Blood Prince is the Sixth book in the Harry Potter series and with the film just been recently released there's a video game. If you've read through the Half Blood Prince should know most of the plots and twist with thrills and chills. In the latest chapter Lord Voldemort carries out orders to his death-eaters. Voldemort has chosen Draco Malfoy to carry out his deeds with Professor Snape's help as well.
Harry, Ron and Hermione are back at Hogwarts once again for another year. A new teacher called Professor Slughorn gets his old job back as Potion master and Professor Snape takes the Defence-against the Dark Arts classes. Harry and Professor Dumbledore also find out more about Tom Riddle (Voldemort's past). If you've read the book you will probably get the most out of the game more then you would out of the film. But if you've only seen the films, you might get a little lost on story if you haven't read the book.
Gameplay: If you've played through Order of the Phoenix on Playstation 2 or 3 the controls feel pretty much the same. You'll be using the analogue sticks to cast your spells like Wingardium Leviosa which makes objects float, or casting Expelliarmus during wizard duels. You can explore Hogwarts without any loading screens at all which is good for most gamers if you're used to free-roaming games in the past.
In Order of the Phoenix you used the Marauder's Map to find out where you needed to go and you'd see footprints on the floor telling you which way to go. This time, however, Nearly-Headless Nick will be your guide to Hogwarts. Yes, Nearly Headless Nick did appear a lot in the books and in the first 3 games as well but I guess that it makes most Potter fans happy to see old characters again.
There are mini games as well, where you can make potions in lessons or in Potion clubs. In order to make a potion, you must get the right colour and mixing to make the potion. If you don't there will be a lot of smoke and you can easily get rid of it by pressing the shoulder buttons L2 and R2, but you have to hurry as you're timed on how quick you make it. Another mini game is Wizarding Duels where you can battle other students and you'll be facing some bosses throughout the main story as well, but they can be really easy to beat if you keep firing spells a lot by using the right analogue stick.
You can also play with a friend if you head to versus mode at the main menu, where you can select your favourite characters like Ron, or Crabbe or Luna. But I guess that the 2 player Wizarding Duels kind of make it feel like a fighting game but using wands as weapons. There is no online mode the Wizarding Duels which is a shame for the hardcore Potter fans out there.
Quidditch makes a return in the Half Blood Prince. The last time we saw Quidditch as a mini-game and task mission was back in 2004 with the Prisoner of Azkaban. You will still be playing as Harry as he tries to catch the golden snitch (a small golden ball where seekers have to catch it). You have to fly through coloured stars in order to go faster but if you miss any, your time will run out and you have to start again. You can't use the six-axis controls if you're flying a broom, you can only use the left analogue stick to move, which is a shame because it would have been a nice idea for the game.
Graphics and Sound: Like I said, nothing has changed in terms of graphics and are pretty much the same as the Order of the Phoenix was back in 2007. But the characters have minor detailed looks and expressions which are a little rushed, possibly due to trying to release the game at the same time the film.
The main actors from the films offer their voices for the game. The main characters like Harry, Ron and Hermione do sound authentic, but they're not 100% perfect. Snape, Dumbledore and Nearly-Headless Nick's voices, however, are much different to the voices in the movies which a lot of people loved, then again I guess that the game does try it making perfect as what the book was. But the voicing for Crabbe and Goyle is fairly funny in the game where they try and block Harry's way, saying stuff like "Well if it isn't the losers from Gryffindor, they're losers".
Music has always been the same in the other Potter games with magic and fantasy putted with a bit of John Williams' music composing in the film and games as well.
Overall: Most Potter fans might get the most out of the game, if you've found the film a big disappointment in terms of plots and endings. There are trophies for Half Blood Prince if you want to get the most out of it, but you'll most likely get over 50% once you've beaten the main story which can easily take you up to 4-6 hours. However, there are plenty of things to do before and after you complete the game. You can collect Hogwarts Crests in different areas, floors and walls in Hogwarts. The more you collect, the more you unlock. Collecting Hogwarts Crests gives you more characters for wizard duels, more health and your spells will be more powerful to use.
Some people might feel a little put off by the game being so short, meaning that you'd probably be better off reading the book again or you could rent the game if you can't be bothered paying £30-£40. But when the next Potter film is made, how will they make Deathly Hollows when it's not set in Hogwarts? Potter fans will just have to wait and see.

The Beatles: Rock Band Review
Gameplay: 9.3
Upping the ante, now you have three-part vocals and the challenge to sing and play and instrument at the same time. Smooth and fun as ever.
Graphics: 8.5
They look good, the game looks good, but there is only so much zip you can put into a Rock Band game.
Sound: 9.8
Uh, hello, the Beatles.
Difficulty: Medium/Hard
You can play the game like any other and have great success, but the real challenge is get four people all who can play and harmonize to the point of perfection. None of the beats or riffs is crazy difficult.
Concept: 8.8
It does move the genre forward with the addition of new instruments with new capabilities and the multiple microphone harmonies.
Multiplayer: 9.5
I still consider the Rock Band series of games the most fun/family/party games ever made. Now we can harmonize.
Overall: 9.1
The price tag for everything is steep, and there are not enough songs for my liking, but this is a true representation of a legendary band. Great songs and great fun make for a great game.

Tomb Raider Underworld Reviews
Bad Points: The sound of the guns is a bit poor and it is quite hard to swim with nunchuk...
General comments: Good levels, probably need guide though cause quite hard in my opinion... new features such as balance beam, good storyline and health heals rapidly so all in all very good. I do really love this wii game and well recommend tomb raider underworld.

EA Sports Active Review
Good Points
Trainer, instructions, diversity, selection of exercises, price
Bad Points
I haven't found any yet
General Comments
I purchased EA Sports Active on May 20th. I have used it now for 2 days. I am not in the best shape as I hit and miss on excercising. Mostly just started walking before I bought the game. However, I was exercising regularly last year. I thought this game is very well put together. The trainer actually waits for you to get the move right. Just like the WII sports package that comes with the WII you are having so much fun you don't realize it's helping. The WII Fit which I also have is balance, posture and yoga oriented. The Active is into muscle/body shaping and cardio. I am currently doing the 30 day challenge and in just two days I feel every bit of it. I like how you pick out your person and make them the same body shape as yourself. It comes with a resistance band and that really works the arm muscles. I will be interested to see how the game adapts to your daily progress which it is supposed to do.

Transworld Surf for PlayStation 2
Summary
This review will be usless to you for two
reasons: First, I am pretty much an idiot. Give
me a shinny object to hold and I will stare at it and drool for hours. Second, I am no gamer. I never get the high score. I never complete a level. Do not know how you kids do it.
But.. but.. but... I love Transworld Surf because
it is so beautiful.I love its vibe. I love the ocean, and it feels and sounds like the real thing. And I can not stop playing it. And WHERE ARE all you surfers out there??? I thought this game would have a dozen reviews buy now.
If you have ever felt the magic and power of waves in the ocean, check this coolest of games out now!! Please! I'm afraid if no one supports the guys who designed this, they won't make Transworld
Surf--THE RETURN.
Sound
Well, the wet sounds are great--details like the loud slap of your board on the water. The hollow barrel sound. The encouraging yelps from your imaginary friends when you do good.... "sick"
"I know that guy" "Nice wave dude". I may be a dork, but like Pavlovs' dogs, this reinforces my efforts and keeps me playing deep into the night.
Gameplay
O.K. This is no Tony Hawk. Its not as deep, tight,
precise, or exciting. Tony is KING. But what do you want to do tonight, go surfing or skateboarding? I would rather go surfing.
The gameplay can seem frustrating, loose, and
slow. But its got a feel of traction, of sliding,
of staling. It is good enough. It will keep you involved. My learning curve is slow so you should have even more fun than me. And just you wait,
when Transworld Surf THE RETURN comes out,
I betcha they get this stuff tight.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 for PlayStation 2
Summary
One of the most insane fighting games ever!! Sure to confusing for beginner's but they will come around. With over 50 characters to choose from, with 3 on 3 battles, there are almost endless team combinations. I was also happy to see another Darkstalker beside's Morrigan(Anakaris, Felicia, and Baby Bonnie Hood) also old school Capcom characters make appearances(Mega-Man, Roll, Sonson, Ruby Heart, Jin, Strider Hiryu, Hayato and Tron Bonne) as well as some cool Marvel characters (Cable, Storm, Gambit and Rouge)
Sound
Once again better on the dreamcast version. Somtimes you can't even hear the character's knockout scream. Some of the music is good, but not all of it. The select music "anna take you for a ride" is really good music!!
Gameplay
Insane gameplay. Crossover is gone.(thank God) Arcade mode is now harder thanks to 3 on 3 battles. Character's like Captain Commando and the final boss are VERY annoying. Some people can even throw 3 fire balls almost at the same time(Jill) You can choose assist types which determines what move your characters do when you call them. Crossover combinations do a lot more hits than they used to. And the 300+ hits that you can do will really keep you playing. Snap backs are also useful moves which makes your oppenent go out of battle for a few seconds and somebody else comes in. And the ability to chain each of your character's super combos for almost as much damage as a crossover combinations is the most useful move in the game.

Champions of Norrath: Realms of EverQuest for PlayStation 2
Summary
The makers of the pretty cool Baldours Gate 2 : Dark Allience and the makers of the populated online Everquest game were smart enough to team up and make one of the longest RPG's on the Playstation 2. If your looking for an addiction, this hack and slash syle game is a must-have game. You have a semi-good choice of playable characters, a lot of NPC's (non-player characters) to meet, and a HECK of a lot of monsters to play. But the biggest plus that this game has is that it is online/offline. You can play online with up to 4 other players, either joining their game to go to where they are in the 70+ hour game, or you can host your own, and let gamers come to help you with your quests. Its also head-set compatable, so you can talk to your team whenever you want. Offline, on the other hand, is also 4 player via the Multitap. You could buy one for around $20-30 and they are useful for this game and others.
Sound
Sound... hmm... The sounds are pretty realistic, like the swinging of swords and the footsteps. Theres only like 2-3 tunes that you listen to, and those are like a little hymn-like. Sound is o-k, but not the best ive seen... or heard.
Gameplay
The gameplay is one of the best ive seen. By the press of a button, you'll be swinging around your battleaxe, or shooting an orc square in the head from 50 feet with a bow. You have two buttons ( Triangle and Circle) to use for spells/abilities, which are easy to use and switch around. You have a choice of 5 different categories : The Human Barbarian, The Wood Elf Ranger, The High Elf Cleric, The Erudite Wizard, and last but not least, the Dark Elf Shadowknight. Each one of them has their advantages (example : A barbarian has great attack skills.) and dissadvantages (they dont regenerate mana) so you have to choose carefully which fits your fighting style best. There are many different places you go to while playing this game. From up in the clouds, to down in the underworld, this game has got it all. They have generated dungeon maps, so no game experiance will be exactly the same. One of the coolest things about this game is that you can create your own weapons with cool gems. There are many different types of them, and they give bonuses to weapons and armor such as lightning attacks or cold resistances. Always look for these as they will give your character the advantage for the battle that you might need to succeed. Dying in offline mode is just like any other game : You lose everything you got between your last save point to the place you died. Online, however, is much different. If you die online, you have to wait until one of your teammates gets to a save point. Then you will be ressurected with all your life and mana points. If both of you die, then i think you go to the nearest major city available. So in conclusion of the gameplay, its extremely good!!!

SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006 for PlayStation 2
Summary
I would concider "WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006" having better quality and more realism than the other games. Its cool how they added more matches, but its stupid that they took away old matches. Like the Bra vs Panty match, they changed it but still you cant have more than 2 girls in it. Also another thing they took away some of the old moves. Other than that the game was great. Plus I like how you you can become General Manager and make your own show!
Sound
The sound was neat. I liked how the audience cheered on the wrestlers. The announcers were some what better when they talked. For example, the announcers respond to almost everything in the matches, like when you hit some one with a weapon or if the referee gets knocked out. Also it is neat how the people cheered created superstars. Sometimes they will cheer, the name of what you assigned the name you wanted to be called, while you play the match. The thing i just dont like is the music, they dont have music from the last game and one more thing is when you create entrance music for supistars you can use songs they play during the menu but you cant use songs from the old game.
Gameplay
I really liked the gameplay. I liked how you can reverse your opponent. Its better than the last game. Also I like that there are different kinds of ways of whipping your opponent and that was fun. For example, you could do a strong whip and through your opponent over the ropes. I also liked the way the referee counts if both guys are laying on the ground. Another thing I like is more of the submission moves are Sub A or Sub B! One thing I dont like is that you cant throw the weapons. Another thing i dont like is if do a ladder match you can push the ladder if one person is up on it! You have to have 2 people standing on the ladder. I wish you could get more than 1 ladder in the game like they do in the real show. The most thing i dont like is if you are in elimination match and are eliminated you cant do nothing, your guy disappears which makes it boring, same goes with Elimanation Chamber and Royal Rumble. The last thing i didnt like is when you go outside the ring and up the ramp the game starts to act slower like in slower motion. The best thing I liked is that the story mode doesnt repeat.

DragonBall Z: Budokai 3 for PlayStation 2
Summary
As i am the first person to write a review on budokai 2 , well i'll make it short and simple. Better than the first one. I recommend buying it because it keeps you pretty occupied throughout the whole game , but i only payed 18 for mine used but there were only two little scratches on it, so its cool but ill explain more below...
Sound
good music, i like the one song is story mode when your in the snow mountains place, those are good pace songs, you'll see what i mean if you listen but the same voice acting is involved as budokai 1
Gameplay
The basic concept in the game is the same as dbz budokai 1, speaking controls and modes but different levels of course. And yes super saiyan 2 is available but you can only unlock it at the end with certain characters at the end of the story. Fused characters, such as gotanks can become super saiyan 3, so thats cool at least. Oh and the story when played is layed out like a game board and you face challenges everytime you move so thats a change too. yeah.

"I AM THE GOD OF WAR!!"
The first moment i began playing GOW1, I was highly impressed with the crisp & defined graphics. The sound effects were superbly realistic as well.
Evidently, the gameplay was undoubtingly good.
Other games that had such great finesse were RE4 & Metal Gear Solid:Snake Eater. RE4 & MGS:SE had exceptionally amusing story lines (I rated
them at 9.5 out of 10), but the GOW series definitely is the most extraordinary, albeit not so to younger gamers (10 years & below).
Apparently, I trust most parents wouldn't even think of buying GOW2 for their 7 or 8 year-old kid, mainly due to the gore-fest.
The description of this GOW sequel is awesome, however that descriptive term is just an understatement. You will get so hooked up that you will even delay going for toilet breaks or eating your dinner.
It's as close to having the dual-shock controller chained-up & seared onto your arms, similar to the possession of the ATHENA'S BLADES.
From the minions of cyclopes, zombies & medusas, to the mighty Gods Zeus, Colossus & Gaia, these flawless pixelated creations are life-like & highly developed.
The core combat engine is fundamental to GOW1... so naturally, GOW fans should cope with a short learning curve (20 Minutes- tops).
The GOW2 game designers had invented a couple of exciting new moves, causing devastating strikes that are employed to obliterate whatever pesky infidels which impedes KRATOS' quest.
Blood & gore are still plentiful, coupled with higher brutality & mayhem. Although the amount of blood oozing & squirting has been brought down a notch, I got no complaints. For instance, when you grab your enemy (by pressing the circle button) & cause a range of attacks which are simply brilliant as well as brutal. Hitting either square, triangle or X after the grab will execute different finishing moves (assigned to different enemies).
It's so darn good that it makes you grin with sheer delight. (To keep you in suspense, I shall not release any descriptions here. *LOL*)
Puzzle designs styles have not deviated much but you may expect more challenging level designs & slightly "smarter" AI's.
The "RAGE OF TITANS" Super-Duper Ass-Kicking Berserk attack can be controlled by initiating or halted at any point by using the same L3 +
R3 toggle as opposed to the prequel's where once ROT is activated, you can't cease the enhancement.
Within the options menu, you may either select either Hints or Tutorials or Both to assist you during gameplay.
I'd award GOW2 the "Best Game of the Year" for PS2 without any hesitation whatsoever. I doubt there will be another more explosive
action-adventure fantasy game after this almighty experience.
Brand new games & sequels are currently programmed for the PS3.
So GOW2 should be considered one of the best for the PS2 as this 8 year-old ebony console becomes increasingly obsolete day by day.
Rumours abound that GOW3 is in the works for new PS3. However, SCEA have not made any commitments to it yet. We may have to wait till July @ E3 for any correspondence regarding GOW3.
GOW2's fighting engine is flawlessly executed.
The lighting & shadow effects with it's dynamic background is truly accurate. The scenery is utterly breathtaking and you may very well find
yourself just ogling at it because it is astonishing.
If you are playing the game through the procession of a 5.1 surround-sound system, another wonderful enhancement would be switching the "Sound Mode" to "Surround" (in the Option Menu). The game's audio sequencing & sound source delegation is another huge plus point. By the way, I rate 9.95 & 9.8 for GOW2 & GOW1 respectively.
I'm confident to guarantee almost any gamer (95 out of 100) especially whom does not fancy the action-adventure genre... would give it 2
thumbs-up before boasting to their gaming peers about the GOW2's masterful achievement. I believe it will be a natural process.
GOW2's lingering in the #1 ranking (Action-Adventure Genre) for a couple of weeks is proof of it's anticipated success.
I recommend playing GOW2 without utilizing any Walkthroughs... unless you are desparately stuck in a particular stage/level & you are really in need of some kind of assistance. GOW1 players will have fairly higher chances in completing this saga without any guides.
Anyways, consulting a Walkthrough is unneccesary as every aspect of the game is made simple by the creative designers.
Additionally it gets your andrenaline pumping whenever an enemy abruptly "greets" you and wishes to pound on you or slice you up when you least expected.
Everything about the game is terrific. From the cinematic music composition to the Fight's/Battles to the voice-over narration (of the God GAIA).
In foresight, spending a minimum of 22 hours (average) to complete GOW2 is the norm in "SPARTAN" difficulty.
So, sit back. Slowly enjoy & savour every last bit of this Epic adventure & it's remarkable intriguing storyline.

Strength
Graphics, Sound, Gameplay & Story-line are second to none.
Best fantasy action-adventure game thus far.
Weakness
Pretty Minor stuff like...
1) Difficult mobility during clinging onto walls.
2) The view of the character is obscured when a larger enemy's Rear-end (like a Cyclops) is facing you & you are in front of the enemy.
3) Not enough Cut-Scenes. I love GOW's Cut-Scenes.
